Creating this remembrance tribute was about capturing the heart of a man who was deeply loved, wonderfully mischievous, hardworking, and unforgettable. Through stories of family holidays, Saturday walks, golf bunkers, stolen glasses, and his unmistakable humour, this tribute celebrates not only the life he lived, but the memories and laughter he leaves behind.
Flower selection and symbolism
These flowers were designed to feel natural, grounded and full of quiet meaning.
Led by foliage, with gentle white and blue blooms woven throughout. Nothing showy, nothing forced, just like the man they honoured.
Astilbe ~ symbolises patience, dedication and remembrance. Representing the years he worked tirelessly for his family, often unseen. It honours devotion and consistency.
Aspidistra ~ symbolises strength, resilience and longevity. Chosen as a beautiful reflection of his character and determination throughout his life.
Eucalyptus ~ symbolises healing, protection and renewal. Eucalyptus speaks of reflection and calm, particularly poignant given Keith’s journey with dementia. It brings a sense of peace, release and rest.
Gaultheria salal tips ~ symbolise endurance, quiet strength, and lasting bonds. A perfect reflection of Keith’s lifelong reliability and the way he quietly held his family together.
Hydrangea ~ symbolise gratitude, understanding, and deep emotion. Chosen for the deep, unspoken love he held for his family, which showed through his actions rather than words (blue his favourite colour).
Iris ~ symbolises faith, wisdom, hope and remembrance. Its strong form and striking colour reflect Keith’s quiet wisdom. The blue iris also speaks to calm skies and peace, a fitting tribute as Keith is laid to rest.
Leatherleaf fern ~ symbolises sincerity, humility, and deep roots. A life grounded in honesty and tradition. He didn’t seek attention; he just got on with things.
Ruscus ~ symbolise everlasting love, endurance and memory. Much like he did within his family, it represents a love that remains present, even when words and memories fade.
Thistle ~ symbolises strength, protection and resilience. Reflective of his character, the thistle is tough, stubborn and fiercely resilient. Chosen to honour the way he worked tirelessly to provide for his family and stood firm through life’s challenges.
